Program Summary

This position is in support of an Information Analysis Center Multiple Award Contract (IAC MAC) sponsored by the Defense Technical Information Center (DTIC). Under the IAC MAC contract vehicle, an IAC MAC Task Order was established to address Reliability, Maintainability, Quality, Supportability, and Interoperability (RMQSI) issues related to systems acquisition and sustainment for the Air Force Life Cycle Management Center (AFLCMC) Engineering Directorate (EZ). The objective of this task order is to provide research, analysis, fabrication, engineering, and development to identify and address Diminishing Manufacturing Sources and Material Shortages (DMSMS); perform software analysis and information assurance; and identify and recommend solutions to RMQSI issues for systems, subsystems, and components of AFLCMC managed aircraft.

Job Summary

This position is in support of the Air Force Supply Chain Management community, providing reverse engineering, engineering analysis, prototyping, and testing activities for a variety of aircraft parts and systems. The candidate will work as part of an integrated project team consisting of KBR and Air Force personnel to solve issues with component reliability, maintainability, obsolescence, and sources of supply. Solutions entail failure analysis activities, design and creation of prototypes, testing, and validation of Air Force technical data.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Responsible for study, design, specification, reverse engineering, and testing related to mechanical, electro-mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic parts and assemblies.

  • Under direct supervision, able to perform all conventional aspects of the functional area subject matter .

  • Devises and suggests new approaches to problems encountered. Conducts work requiring independent evaluation, selection, and adaptation of engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria .

  • Performs work which involves conventional engineering practice and complex features such as conflicting design requirements, unsuitability of conventional materials, and difficult coordination requirements .

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET accredited institution.

  • Minimum of 2 years related experience, with typical experience ranging from 3-7 years.

  • Must be able to obtain Secret security clearance.

  • Proficiency with 3D solid modelling software such as SolidWorks, and simulation tools such as ANSYS.

  • Proficient understanding and working knowledge of material selection, manufacturing techniques, and creating and interpreting engineering drawings and data.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Proficient understanding and working knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T).

  • Experience and knowledge of reliability, maintainability, and supportability challenges due to aging and obsolete components.

  • Knowledge and experience with root cause analysis.

Salary Range: $80,000-$90,000
