Responsibilities | Essential Functions:

  • Visually and physically inspect aircraft fuselage structure for conformance to engineering requirements using a variety of precision measurement equipment and inspection tools to include micrometers, calipers, flashlights, depth gages, digital microscope, and other instruments

  • Responsible for inspection of product in accordance with drawings, work instructions, quality acceptance procedures, and retention of acceptance documentation/ records.

  • Inspection of internally manufactured parts throughout final stages of production.

  • Composite inspections include location, gap verification, edge sealing.

  • Locate, identify and accurately document nonconforming product at time of discovery per applicable procedures

  • Visually and physically inspect rework and repair for compliance per engineering requirements

  • Mentor technicians on nonconforming product/material discovered during inspection to include engineering requirements, how to identify the nonconformance and process improvement

  • Develop, promote, and maintain collaborative team environment with fellow inspectors, support organizations

  • Work well as part of a team and individually to increase quality, efficiency, effectiveness and affordability through process improvement and other quality control methods

  • Must pass all job-specific or specialized certification and qualification programs required for core tasks or specialized assignments.

  • Tasks may be performed in a team environment or individually based. Must be able to work while unsupervised.

Basic Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent GED required (education will be verified) 2+ years of quality inspection experience

  • Must have technical strengths in composite processing, operations, and inspection

  • Must be able to use standard measuring inspection tools/equipment and able to read and understand blueprints, technical specifications and operating procedures

  • Ability to obtain and maintain DoD Secret Clearance and Special Program Access

  • This position requires the ability to perform moderate strenuous physical and repetitious work to include: standing, bending, and capable of lifting up to 50 pounds

  • Must be able to work around composites, epoxies, and sealants for long periods of time.

  • Must be able to work flexible and changing shift schedules

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 2+ years Quality inspection of composite structures

  • Must be able to effectively communicate both verbally and written.

  • Experience with MRB process preferred.

  • Must be able to effectively communicate both verbally and written.

  • Proficient in Microsoft applications

  • Proficient computer skills

Salary Range: $49,900 - $83,100

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
