[JOB SUMMARY [Provide direct client care to an assigned client in their home under the direct supervision of the Agency Registered Nurse.

  • High School Diploma/ GED or equivalent is required for employment.
  • Current cardiopulmonary resuscitation required (CPR).
  • Required to be a Certified Nursing Assistant in North Carolina.

[REQUIREMENTS [Compassion, integrity, respect, dignity, personal accountability, and commitment to quality of care are essential qualities for a Home Care worker. The job requires working without direct supervision and reading, comprehending, and following client care plans. It also involves performing physical tasks such as transfers, stand-by assists, bathing, grooming, and other related tasks. As a Home Care worker, it's crucial to maintain client confidentiality and follow HIPAA requirements. Lastly, completing 6 (six) hours of In-Services yearly is mandatory.

[PERSONAL CARE (ADL) [Assist with bed baths, tub baths, showers, sponge baths, etc. Perform mouth care, including denture cleaning, skincare, hair care, and nail filing (no cutting). Make the bed, whether the client is present or not. Assist with dressing and undressing the client.

[BODY MECHANICS [Assist the client in turning and repositioning, transferring, and mobility with or without the help of mechanical devices. Also, support them with active or passive range of motion exercises.

[NUTRITION [Plan and prepare nutritious meals, proper food handling, storage, and feeding assistance. Also, record intake/output and manage fluids as directed by the Agency Registered Nurse Supervisor.

[ELIMINATION [Assist with toileting, including bowel and bladder care. Provide perineal and catheter care, apply condom catheters, and empty drainage devices.

[SPECIAL PROCEDURES [Prevention and care for decubitus ulcers include changing non-sterile dressings and applying ace bandages, TED hoses, and binders.

[Essential Job Functions: Physical Demands [The job requires lifting to fifty (50) pounds. Moving, lifting, or transferring clients may involve lifting fifty (50) pounds and assisting clients with weights of more than one hundred (100) pounds.
