JOB SUMMARY: Assists the Clarksville Downtown Market Manager in supervising weekly operations of the Market in order to achieve weekly/seasonal goals.

*THIS IS A SEASONAL POSITION WHICH WILL LAST FOR THE DOWNTOWN MARKET SEASON. PRIOR EXPERIENCE WORKING WITH VENDORS IS PREFERRED. THIS POSITION REQUIRES WORKING MORNINGS, HOLIDAYS, AND WEEKENDS.*

Example of Duties

JOB DUTIES:

  • Assists with handling SNAP distribution and receipts and creates SNAP report at the end of the day.
  • Assists with Market merchandise sales and handles money/inventory.
  • Answers questions from the public, vendors, and community partners.
  • Assists with weekly set-up/break-down, data collection, market sales, surveys, voting, and other special events on Market days.
  • Serves as the secondpoint of contact to answer questions from vendors and the public about the Clarksville Downtown Market in the absence of the Market manager.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Typical Qualifications

KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Strong customer service;
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing;
  • Communication, interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with coworkers, supervisor, the general public, etc. sufficient to exchange or convey information and to give and receive work direction;
  • General knowledge of Clarksville and the Clarksville Parks and Recreation Department;
  • Accepts math skills to accurately count money;
  • Skills/ability sufficient to keep accurate and complete records;
  • Ability to operate Point of Sale device (computer or cash register);
  • Ability to work independently;
  • Prior experience working with vendors preferred
Supplemental Information

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must be available to work every Saturday during the Market season (late May - late October).

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Exposure to extreme temperatures. Positions in this class typically require: reaching standing, walking, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing, and repetitive motions. Moderate physical activity to include but not limited to walking, lifting, stooping, and climbing. Some heavy lifting may be required.

JOB CONDITIONS: Indoor and outdoor work Perform duties under general supervision; Ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays
