Psychiatric Registered Nurse

Pay Rate: $47 / hour

Psychiatric Registered Nurse

Minimum QualificationsPossession of a current license to practice as a registered nurse issued by the Pennsylvania State Board of Nursing; or possession of a non-renewable temporary practice permit issued by the Pennsylvania State Board of Nursing.

Minimum one year experience in Psychiatric setting

Proficient computer skills to include, but not limited to, Microsoft Office products.

Role DescriptionSpecialized plan of care: Develops, implements, updates, evaluates and revises as appropriate an interdisciplinary age-specific patient Plan of Care; based on continuous assessment and interpretation of all available patient data - to meet the identified patient care goals.

Demonstrates integration of general nursing practice with intervention for emotionally ill patients based on approved Standards of care and practice as well as the patient's treatment plan

Identifies and utilizes effective de-escalation measures as alternative to seclusion/restraints

Provides for patient safety at all times. Aware of patient safety measures (i.e. contraband, restraint/seclusion, suicide precautions).

Maintains routine regular rounds (according to Facility policy) 1:1, precautionary monitoring (suicidal, elopement, contraband, seclusion/restraint), reporting and recoding patient physical and emotional status, activity and behavior

Demonstrates knowledge of milieu management in daily practice.

Demonstrates effective de-escalation techniques

Provides for spiritual and emotional needs of the patient/significant others in times of stress/maladaptive behavior

Verbalizes understanding of differences between voluntary and involuntary admissions

Verbalizes understanding of legal issues involved with competency and guardianship, and psychiatric care of minors.

Demonstrates understanding of suicide and homicide risks and precautions and crisis interventions.
