WestRock Company Multi-Site HR Generalist - Claremont & Conover NC in Claremont, North Carolina

Locations: Claremont, Conover

The HR Generalist will be a key member of the WestRock Consumer Packaging Human Resources team. Responsible for help manage employee relations, communication, training and development, compensation, recruitment, staff planning, performance management, worker’s compensation, and all other HR functional areas. Advise management and ensure adherence to company HR policies and procedures. Provide HR leadership, support and partnership with facility operations to achieve organizational goals. Implement corporate HR initiatives. Lead change management by improving processes and procedures and by supporting culture change initiatives.

How you will impact WestRock:

  • Maintains compliance with state and federal employment laws as well as company policies and procedures.

  • Tracks and reports on HR metrics.

  • Ensure fair and equitable administration wage and benefit programs.

  • Prepare present HR metrics during Leadership Meetings.

  • Collaborate with HR COE’s such as talent acquisition, talent management, total rewards, contact center and shared services, etc. to drive best in class solutions for our teams and businesses.

  • Maintains positive employee relations ensuring union-free environments, including the identification of breaches of culture/values that impact the work environment.

  • Investigates employee relations issues and partners with appropriate leaders to resolve.

  • Fosters continuous improvement by analyzing processes, monitoring effectiveness, and identifying actions to reduce complexity and/or enhance operational performance.

  • Partner with L&D manager to deliver new employee onboarding program.

  • Utilizes available data to drive business and people decisions and ensure accurate recordkeeping/data integrity is maintained.

  • Works with managers to ensure performance reviews are done timely and accurately. Works with the HR Manager to develop employee improvement plans.

  • Conducts training, including management development training, in HR related areas (interviewing, coaching etc.).

  • Works with EH&S Leader to manage worker’s compensation claims.

  • Travels as required.

  • Embrace and value enterprise thinking.

What you need to succeed:

  • Requirements include BA/BS and a minimum of 3 years’ human resources generalist experience. PHR/SPHR preferred.

  • Strong knowledge of state and federal employment law.

  • Effective written and oral communication skills, including negotiation, persuasion, and conflict resolution abilities.

  • Time management and organizational skills required, including the ability to manage competing priorities.

  • Demonstrate strong attention to detail.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office products with strong emphasis in Excel and Word, Outlook

  • Good project planning and process skills

  • Critical thinking and analytical skills

  • Collaborative and team player

  • Demonstrates good judgement and maintains confidentiality

  • Bilingual Spanish/English (beneficial)

  • Ability to work under tight deadlines and handle multiple priorities

  • Future geographic mobility is a plus
