The Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for the follow-up and quality related issues of suppliers in Mexico, also will make sure that the open orders and deliveries are align through the operational team at the JBT plants. Cross functional support of teams, this position will ensure manufacturing performance and quality goals are met or exceeded to achieve Oshkosh’s strategic and financial goals. Reporting to the Regional Supply Chain Manager - Mexico , this position requires strong quality, heavy fabrication experience, supply chain, manufacturing, and assembly along with the ability to collaborate and influence cross functional areas internally and externally.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Perform regular Quality and Manufacturing control audits to ensure vendors continue to work in compliance with Oshkosh standards.

  • Conduct tests and assessments on products to identify quality issues.

  • Serve as the company’s functional expert in manufacturing and work with suppliers to develop optimum manufacturing and assembly procedures to reduce defects and cost while improving delivery.

  • Serving as a liaison between our company's management and suppliers to identify and solve manufacturing and quality issues.

  • Serve as the single point of contact (SPOC) between Supplier and Oshkosh functional groups needed to support.

  • Collaborate with Supply Chain, Quality, Engineering and Plant operations teams to identify OTD, quality goals and logistics times.

  • Work closely with the Quality team in new production specifications, process setups and First articles at Supplier.

  • Manage, and evaluate suppliers’ specific KPIs that measure operational. Ensure suppliers have access to appropriate data to drive KPI measurement and improvement activities.

  • Attend and participate in weekly meetings between suppliers and plants to review quality, cost, and delivery. Provide follow up on any action items required in order to improve SQDC metrics.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This position does not have direct reports. QUALIFICATIONS

A. REQUIRED EDUCATION, SKILLS, and EXPERIENCE

  • A bachelor’s degree in mechanical or industrial engineering or related field from an accredited university/college is required..

  • Must have 5+ years of experience in hands-on manufacturing in fabrication.

  • Ability to read and interpret drawings and product specifications.

  • Two years of experience working with AWS welding processes for heavy steel fabrication is a plus.

  • Experience with ISO 9001 quality management system and manufacturing facility audit is a plus.

  • Experience in LEAN, Continuous Improvement, Total Quality Management (Quality Assurance/Control) and similar productivity and preventative maintenance tools and methodologies is required.

  • Certified in Lean Six-Sigma are highly preferred.

  • Knowledge of problem-solving statistical tools; ability to deal with identification of abnormalities and apply problem solving techniques to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.

  • Organized, flexible and easily adaptable to changing conditions; ability to work well in high pressure situations to meet deadlines; follow through and handle multiple tasks/projects.

  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

  • A thorough understanding of diverse work ethics and cultures in international business environments is essential.

B. LANGUAGE & TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS

  • Fluent in English and Spanish is required.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills; ability to communicate clearly, accurately.

  • Requires up to 75% travel to suppliers and plants in Mexico and the United States on a weekly basis.
