Job Title: Vice President of Sales/Operations Company: Byer Steel, Inc. Location: Cincinnati, OH JOB SUMMARY Byer Steel is a privately owned Rebar Mill, Rebar Fabrication and Scrap Metal Business seeking a driven and experienced individual to set and provide strategic guidance for the company by working with the owner and management team to establish medium-long range goals, strategies, plans, and policies in both sales and operations. This person will be the leader of Sales and Operations functions at Byer Steel and will oversee initiatives for Byer Steel to increase rebar sales, rebar quality, productivity, and focus on safety. This is a prominent and visible leadership role overseeing a team of Managers and Supervisors, dedicated to maximizing profitability, safety, and long-term viability and growth of the company. PRINCIPAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES Essential Job Duties Work with management team and CEO to develop, organize, implement, direct and evaluate the organization's functions and performance. Enforce policies and procedures of the organization to improve overall effectiveness and safety of the organization. Effectively manage and engage with rebar and scrap salespeople, including: Revisit existing incentive structure and sales program to motivate team to achieve sales goals by month, quarter, and year. Create and implement sales and marketing plans, establish formal sales processes. Negotiate agreements with distribution partners and vendors. Lead regular weekly sales and strategy meetings. Identify periodic sales training courses or programs for sales team ongoing professional development. Gather market intelligence through networking and industry publications. Conduct research to expand into new markets and opportunities. Represent Byer Steel in a knowledgeable, professional manner in front of key customers and influencers while attending customer visits, job site visits, and a variety of industry organizations and networking events. Oversee day to day operations of Recycling and Rebar businesses. Manage and responsible for operational performance against established company KPI Identify and drive continuous improvement projects to increase productivity, profitability, and/or safety. Regular physical presence in both warehouse and recycling operations Lead daily morning operational meeting to address upcoming fabrication and delivery schedules as well and any pertinent sales/operational issues. Monitor inventory and determine rolling schedule for Byer Steel rebar mill. Manage procedures for proper inventory controls and identify areas of improvement where applicable. Assist with axle and other raw material procurement, including business development and price negotiations. Identify, implement, and track Key Performance Indicators and report to CEO and management team on pertinent trends. Collaborate with controller to report financial results in timely manner. Establish budgets of divisions and establish appropriate reporting structure. Identify gaps, needs, and opportunities. Collaborate with Management to formulate solutions, innovative processes and ROI calculations to determine feasibility. Effectively build connections with people in the organization, demonstrating respectful leadership. Work with CEO and Controller on management and selection/negotiations with key professional service partners (insurance, legal, tax, accounting, IT, etc..) Learn industry-specific software systems (ASA, Mas100, Mas500 and RIMAS) in order to run data reports and effectively manage departments.
