This position may include rotational travel to 9 garages in the Cincinnati, Ohio/Northern Kentucky region. Job Summary: Includes, but is not limited to passenger cars, pickup trucks, SUV's, medium and heavy trucks, trailers, and off-road equipment. Maintenance operations may take place in the garage or at field locations during various work schedules depending on business needs. Performs such duties as: Perform preventative maintenance inspections on light & medium duty vehicles/equipment and assist higher classification of technicians with PM's on all vehicles and equipment. Assist with Federal DOT inspections. Assist on dielectric test inspections. Perform diagnostics and repairs on light and medium vehicles, (gas & diesel) forklifts, trailers, and powered equipment. Maintain the appropriate level of technical competence required to diagnose and repair vehicles/equipment. Perform hydraulic brake systems and component repairs. Assist with hydraulic component repairs. Assist with air brake system inspections and repairs. Assist higher classification of technicians with diagnostics and repairs on all vehicles/equipment. Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair basic electric system components, cranking, lighting, charging and assist with basic A/C systems and component repairs. Complete all training requirements for Vehicle Maintenance Technician I in the timeframe established by the Company. Basic/Required Qualifications: Must have an Associates degree or certificate in auto, diesel, or heavy equipment mechanics from a vocational school; OR at least one year of related work experience in lieu of a degree. Must successfully obtain and maintain a Class A CDL license within 6 months of hire date. Job Specific Requirements: Must be able to stand and walk on concrete surface for extended periods of time. Must be able to work in garage environment with associated noise, fumes and dust and tolerate heights in aerial devices. Must be able to lift and/or push at least 100 lbs. several times per shift. Must be able to carry at least 50 lbs. a distance of at least 25 feet. Repeated bending and twisting are required. This position contains a weight restriction of 275 pounds as an essential function of the job. The purpose of this restriction is to ensure that all weight rated equipment is used in an appropriate and safe manner within maximum allowed weight loading. This weight restriction must be maintained throughout employment within the Vehicle Maintenance Technician progression. Traveling outside the Company service area for the purpose of training and working within this classification. Onsite Mobility Classification - Work will be performed at a company facility.
