Will be hiring 1 incumbent at Hartwell, OH, 1 incumbent at Brecon, OH, 1 incumbent at Todhunter, OH and 1 incumbent at Queensgate, OH DUTIES: Under close supervision as a learner in training for advancement to the next higher grade in his/her promotional sequence, works with employees of higher classification in electrical and other work in and about substations and shops; performing such duties as: 1. Assisting employees of higher classification in their work, including supplying them with tools, instruments, materials and equipment. 2. Caring for tools, instruments, materials, and equipment used in the work. 3. Operating power driven hand tools, such as air hammers, electric drills; sharpening drills, using emery wheel and using taps. 4 . Operating torches, handling solder, removing insulation from wires, etc. 5. Tinning and soldering joints and lugs. 6. Bending, cutting and threading conduit and pipe by hand. 7. Driving a truck or other Company vehicles on a limited basis, such as, to and from job site, when required; and other driving incidental with performance of duties. 8. Acquiring a working knowledge of safety rules, first-aid and safety and fire-fighting equipment used on the system. 9. Performing other similar or less skilled work. QUALIFICATIONS: Must meet the Company's requirements as to GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS: 1. Must have acquired a knowledge of the use and care of the more common tools used in the work. 2. Must be capable of passing the Company's drivers examination and possess the necessary driver's license, including the appropriate Commercial Drivers License. 3. Must possess and demonstrate through testing an aptitude for mechanical and electrical work. 4. Must possess and demonstrate ability to climb structures and extension ladders, and work at elevated levels. Requirements Ability to successfully complete the CAST test. Ability to obtain Class A commercial driver's license (CDL) This position contains a weight restriction of 285 pounds as an essential function of the job. The purpose of this restriction is to ensure that all weight-rated equipment is used in an appropriate and safe manner within maximum allowed weight loading.
