The University of Cincinnati, College of Medicine, Department of Radiation Oncology is recruiting a full time Research Assistant or Senior Research Assistant within the lab of Dr. Mathieu Sertorio, PhD. The title and salary will be commensurate with education/experience. The laboratory's research focuses on understanding the biological response of tumor or normal tissue to ionizing radiation to identify new therapeutic strategies to improve cancer radiotherapy treatment. The employee will have the opportunity to work on innovative radio-biology topics using proton and Flash radiotherapy. The Research Assistant will assist with the coordination of laboratory projects and organizations and make independent contributions to projects and studies based on professional training or functional experience. The employee will have the opportunity to share authorship of scientific publication upon active implication in the projects and could be implicated in scientific writing. Essential Functions Assist in performing in-vitro experiment such as cell culture (maintenance and test on cancer cells or organoids), molecular biology (DNA/RNA extraction, PCR, cloning, biochemical assays and, western blot) and in-vivo experiments such as mouse breeding and genotyping, tumor engraftment and growth. Record data according to research protocols. Interpret data and assist in judging validity of data. May perform statistical and graphical analysis of data. Assist in animal colony management and animal husbandry. Apply research principals for less complex assignments. Perform related duties based on departmental need. Five (5) years of relevant work experience and/or other specialized training can be used in lieu of education requirement. Required Experience Additional related work experience may be required depending on field or discipline. Senior Research Assistant Required Education Bachelor's Degree.
