Zoological Society of Cincinnati Night Shift Supervisor - Office of Public Safety in Cincinnati, Ohio

We are looking for a dynamic individual to join our team as a Night Shift Supervisor, Office of Public Safety. The successful candidate will be a positive-minded, collaborative leader with hands-on, supervisory experience and skilled at leading and motivating staff and building relationships. Position Summary: This is a full-time position that reports to the Associate Director, Office of Public Safety, that will be responsible for ensuring adherence to security-related policies and the discharging of all patrol and monitoring duties for the overall safety, protection, and safeguarding of Zoo employees, visitors, and property during overnight hours. The successful candidate will demonstrate an effective leadership style that embodies the Zoo's Core Values. This position is overtime-eligible and is eligible for the Zoo's benefits programs for non-union employees. Specific Duties & Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Patrol Zoo controlled locations and protect the perimeter. Troubleshoot perimeter gate and access control issues. Advise on weather related safety issues for employees and guests. Monitors weather stations and websites for severe or inclement weather. Monitor and manage card access control systems and key control systems. Monitor and manage video surveillance systems. Assist the department leadership with the recruitment and training of new team members. Prepares and maintains nightly activity reports, incident reports and all required paperwork. Authors reports, reads, and evaluates correspondence and memoranda relative to operational activities, safety, and security hazards. Understand and observe regulatory criteria under USDA and AZA physical perimeter standards. Assists with follow-up investigations of previously reported Zoo incidents. Participates in training programs and complete special assignments as needed. Demonstrates regular, reliable, and punctual attendance. Assists with parking operations and management of traffic control devices and signage. Maintain First Aid, CPR, & AED certification. Must be able to handle firearms and qualify for the Zoo's DART ("Dangerous Animal Response Team") program. Performs building safety checks to include fire extinguishers and emergency lighting. Assist the Office of Public Safety Department in maintaining a safe and secure work environment. Supervises, coordinates, counsels, and manages all part-time public safety officers during a tour of duty. If necessary, recommends disciplinary actions for part-time Office of Public Safety staff. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications: Equivalent combinations of training, education and experience that provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the essential functions of the position will be considered. Education & Experience: High School diploma required. Prior supervisory experience of at least two (2) years preferred. Excellent oral and written communications, interpersonal and customer service skills and familiarity with Windows-based software and applications is required. Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license with an insurable driving record. Must be able to be certified on weapons as part of the Zoo's DART program. Working Conditions/Other Requirements: Employment is contingent upon passing a drug & nicotine screen and background investigation. Physically demanding working conditions are inherent in this job while performing the duties of the job. The incumbent is regularly required to stand, walk, drive a patrol vehicle, and utilize manual dexterity to use computer mouse and keyboard and other office equipment.
