About Housing Services Housing Service plays a vital role in the UC's explosive growth and success. Residence hall occupancy has risen to 8000 beds in the last 10 years, an increase of 75% in that time. Job Overview The Neighborhood Operations Coordinator (NOC) coordinates the day to day operations of multiple residence hall service centers providing customer service and problem resolution in one or more areas pertaining to occupancy management, facilities management, keys, mail, and general inquiries. The NOC manages all service-related inquires at the neighborhood desk for a Housing Services program. Essential Functions Resolve complex problems, work with appropriate staff to develop and implement intervention strategies using professional counseling techniques. Make expert referrals as needed. Design, develop, implement, and coordinate programs for students and other customers. Coordinate with other Campus Services departments on offerings and services. Provide local administrative support, including excellent customer service to students and guests, monthly key audits, manage work order system, navigate and execute student needs within databases, e.g. room assignments and changes. Design, develop and implement technology based self-service tools. Develop and execute processes pertaining to hall opening and closing. Collaborate with Resident Education & Development and Conference Services to provide support for summer conferences in designated residence halls. This may include day-to-day supervision of conference assistants and conference guests/local constituents. Participate in departmental initiatives including training, committee work, development sessions, and/or candidate interviews. Essential Functions (cont'd) Supervise a Desk Assistant (DA) staff of 15-45 undergraduate and graduate students. Train and develop desk assistants, coordinate desk schedule, approve shift switches, serve as payroll timekeeper and hold staff accountable for performance through regular meetings and annual evaluations. May participate in performing one or more of the following duties: mentor newly hired neighborhood Operations Assistants (NOAs) and DAs; hire, train, and supervise NOAs and DAs; serve as team leader for scheduling and other management activities; coordinate NOA and DA training program. Serve in an on-call rotation for after-hours emergency assignment needs. During busier times, extra hours may be needed to complete the work of readying the hall for openings/closings and transition periods. Perform related duties based on departmental need.
