The Float Pool Nurse will support the Medical Center's Med Surg & ICU units, delivering high-quality care to patients based on assessed needs, established standards of care and according to policy and procedures.Education: Bachelor's Degree in Nursing required, Master's Degree in Nursing preferred Experience: Four (4) years progressive leadership responsibilities, ICU experience. Required Skills and Knowledge: Experience in a university hospital environment preferred; ability to utilize sound management principles, ability to accept and implement change; able to foster professional and inter-professional relationships; fosters effective guest relations skills; ability to work flexible hours. He/she provides administrative direction for assigned nursing personnel. He/she is responsible for coordinating daily staffing in collaboration with the Clinical Managers and Clinical Director. The House Supervisor is the acting administrative representative for decision making on weekends, holidays and after hours, in collaboration with the designated On call Administrator. Supervision of Staff:

Assigns and reassigns unit staff based on patient care needs, continuity, acuity and budgetary guidelines.

Reviews staffing sheets for accuracy.

Assigns float staff based on staffing grid/ratio and staff expertise.

Analyzes the need for additional staff for each shift utilizing census and acuity information.

Plans ahead to cover deficiencies and demonstrates good judgment and creativity in arranging unit coverage.

Notifies Clinical Manager and Clinical Director of staf
