Job Summary

Working as the Food Safety and Quality Assurance Manager, you will be directly responsibility for the overall operational safety in a college dining account and will be held accountable for the overall safety behaviors of the account. The manager operates the department in accordance with the approved safety standards, while providing the university with a safety first facility, maintaining excellent relationships with employees, guests and university as well as other departments within the operation. Food safety and workplace safety education will be provided throughout internal inspections so foodservice workers can understand the "whys" and help to build transferrable skills relative to safety culture that will help all adapt to the high standard that is set within Chartwells.
Key Responsibilities
Perform unit level surveillance safety audits for multiple areas
Identify deficiencies and implement new strategies
Provide written feedback to unit managers regarding unit observations and findings during unit surveillance
Attend meetings, workshops and special events for safety issues
Lead and provide readiness for Health Division Food Service Inspections, 3rd party Food Safety Audits
Attend safety management team meetings and perform Safety Training
Manages Food Allergen Compliance
Develop and deliver on-going maintenance of the Food Safety Plans
Assist unit managers with implementation of Compass safety Standards and Solutions
Lead QA Training with associates, and one-on-one with management involvement
Provide verification that the safety systems are working daily
Serve as flexible safety specialists as first responders
Preferred Qualification
B.S. degree in food technology, food science, or related curriculum and/or experience preferred
5 + years of directly related experience required in Quality Assurance and Food Safety
Experienced in prepared foods manufacturing a plus
Prior compliance experience with all Health codes, maintain Health permitting and ServSafe Certifications including professional communication skills with all levels of associates and clients; able to train associates and managers; able to analyze problems and select appropriate solutions
Ability to maintain ServSafe Certification (90% or higher) (within 90 days as per our standards)
Previous health permitting, QA and Safety Training experience preferred
Attention to detail and ability to help managers to find solutions
Demonstrated written and oral communication skills, and professionalism
Strong data management, reporting, and writing skills
Strong understand of FSMA is a must
Proficient in MS Office applications including Word, Excel, Visio, PowerPoint and Outlook
