Actalent Construction Inspector in Cincinnati, Ohio

Job Description

Seeking a Construction Inspector to perform construction administration testing and inspection services for DOT construction projects. Monitors and enforces quality standards and specifications, reads project drawings, specifications, blueprints, and works on a variety of construction projects. Will be responsible for logging construction activities of contractors to ensure to work conforms to plans. Communicating directly with owners reps, project managers, contractors and other on-site personnel. There will be some travel involved which varies depending on site location.

Responsibilities:

-Performs construction administration and inspection services for state, county and local roadway and bridge projects and municipal utility or infrastructure projects.

-Monitors and enforces quality standards and specifications, reads construction drawings, and works on a variety of construction projects.

-Inspects construction projects to ensure contractor compliance with state specifications, plans and/or proposals and bridge projects.

-Verifies plan quantities and calculations with as bid plans, prepares and maintains project records and reports and performs other duties as assigned by the Project Engineer.

-Notifies the Contractor or the Project Engineer with status updates or about non-conforming work.

-May conduct hazardous material surveys, as well as asbestos abatement monitoring services during abatement projects.

-Conducts quality control testing at project sites, including concrete, soils, masonry, asphalt, aggregate and reinforcing steel.

-Prepares and maintains project records and reports and performs other duties as assigned by the Project Engineer in a timely manner. Notifies the project engineer with status updates or non-conforming work.

Skills & Qualifications:

-Must have DOT inspection certifications/ prior experience supporting ODOT, INDOT, or KYTC projects

-Strong report writing and field note taking skills

-Ability to effectively communicate with stakeholders

-Willingness to travel and work long hours when required

-Willingness to work outdoors year-round
