Description

Job Summary:

Provides training across a platform of computer-based technology programs with a concentration on Microsoft products. Instructs individual clients and groups in a continuum of services including the full spectrum from introductory through employment-ready and employment specific skills. Develops and maintains curriculum to meet the demands of clients, funders, and the employment environment. Manages the CABVI Community Learning Center classes to meet client, agency, and program needs.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Provides computer training to individuals with visual impairments assuring competency in goal specific areas.

  • Provides assessments and prepares training plans/goals to meet the individualized training needs of clients.

  • Instructs clients, individually and in groups, on all aspects of computer usage including such areas as:

  • Smart phones and personal data devices

  • Introduction to computers

  • Keyboarding

  • Beginning, intermediate, and advanced use of Microsoft programs (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)

  • Assists clients with achieving on-line certifications and preparing for on-line testing.

  • F ocuses on individualized training in technical skills and coaching in soft skills necessary for job placement and successfully retaining employment.

  • Works collaboratively with CABVI Assistive Technology Instructors to meet the adaptive needs of clients with vision loss.

  • Develops functional knowledge of large print, screen reading and braille technology to best facilitate computer learning of clients.

  • Manages CABVI computer training program curriculum.

  • Identifies and responds to the needs of clients, funders, and the community through the development of a comprehensive and growing curriculum; maintains a relevant training curriculum utilizing up-to-date technologies, programs, and training programs.

  • Maintains current knowledge of programs available in the market and ever-changing needs of employers, incorporating new learning in the CABVI computer training curriculum.

  • Manages the CABVI Community Learning Center.

  • Assumes responsibility for scheduling, including individual and group classes.

  • Provides community learning opportunities and facilitates additional program offerings as requested.

  • Maintains all equipment and works with CABVI IT to resolve issues and keep equipment in good working order.

  • Completes all administrative tasks as needed to meet the needs of the agency and funders, including but not limited to, completion of data entry into CRM, daily notes, reports, and planning documents.

Qualifications

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s or associate degree. Specialized training in the technology field will be considered in lieu of degree.

  • 2+ years prior teaching or instructional background; computer-based training experience preferred.

  • Knowledge of and demonstrated competency in computer hardware and software, particularly Microsoft Office programs.

  • Expertise with Windows, iOS, Mac, and Android operating systems.

  • Strong knowledge of portable computing and smart phone platforms and their respective applications.

  • Familiarity with accessible technology concepts preferred.

    Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Ability to provide training to individuals or groups, in-person or virtually. Ability to provide field-based instruction preferred.

  • Professional oral and written communication skills. Able to write detailed reports and conduct consumer evaluations.

  • Able to work some scheduled evenings or weekends.
