Our Operations groups are core to the success of the Markets business and has significant impact across the lifecycle of a Trade. We partner extensively with a range of internal stakeholders including Front Office Sales and Trading Desks, Compliance, Legal, Finance and HR; alongside having significant interaction with our external client base, playing a key role in the overall client experience. We have a Client relationship group dedicated to overseeing the group service performance and strategic partnership for our top tier client base, where we play a key role in supporting our global clients to ensure they have a first class experience when doing business with Citi.

Job Purpose:

  • AVP role within the Equity Cash Sales Middle Office in Japan who supports Cash Equity Sales activities and is expected to be the future people manager of the team of 5

  • The team sits near sales/trader on the trading floor

  • The team is based across Tokyo and Okinawa and has global exposure

  • Handle multiple BAU tasks at a time; ensure trades are booked correctly, ensure trade confirmations are sent timely, work with our clients and business acting as point of contact to resolve any queries in collaboration with regional / global and internal/ external stakeholders

  • Recommend solutions to resolve complex issues

  • Participate in the implementation of assigned projects, including new products, services and upgrades to platforms

  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor

As a future people manager:

  • Support his/her manager, who is responsible for Equity Middle Office and Operations Client Relationship Management, in collaboration with other team leads especially when building people strategy

  • Provide informal guidance, and/or on the job training to new team members

  • Responsible for day-to-day resource management and allocation of work within the team/project

  • Promoting a culture of continuous improvement and cultivating a robust service and control environment

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Bachelor’s/University degree

  • 3 years+ of relevant experience in Equity Cash Sales Middle Office, or Equity Settlement Operations

  • People management experience (preferred)

  • Demonstrated comprehension of Equity (preferred)

  • Ability to establish and build trust with professionals throughout the business as a leader, advisor and business partner to the organization with a clear client orientation.

  • Strong awareness of both external and internal best practice perspectives, maintaining a balanced and fresh viewpoint.

  • Strong, influential communicator who is articulate and concise, demonstrated success interacting with stakeholders in the business as well as the Operations, and Technologies

  • Energetic, flexible, collaborative, and proactive

  • Self-reliant, good problem solver, results oriented

  • Strong risk management and control mindset

  • Japanese: native or business level for both writing and speaking where client service can be provided

  • English: business level

  • JSDA Registered Representative (Class I)
