Become a Field Safety Advisor at Southern California Edison (SCE) and build a better tomorrow. In this job, you will support Foothill, Redlands, and Palm Springs Service Centers for safety and safety compliance. You will share communications, and help develop, implement and monitor safety programs, standards, procedures and processes to protect the health and safety of our employees.

A day in the life - Get ready to think big, work smart and shine bright!

  • Provide safety guidance, monitoring and policy/rule interpretation for Edison employees and contractors for projects and operations throughout the Edison territory.

  • Act as the point of contact all work items with safety-related implications.

  • Conduct workplace safety inspections and audits in the field, yards, and facilities to ensure safe work practices and program compliance during normal and emergency conditions.

  • Collaborate with SCE representatives to discuss positive observations, and observations requiring corrective actions and follow up.

  • Attend and participate in meetings to guide decisions and support assigned groups in all matters involving safety to ensure safety and compliance.Conduct research and provide innovative ideas for developing cost effective solutions and management of safe work practices.

  • Report, investigate, review, and comment on incident documentation to ensure accurate reporting of the incident sequence of events, contributing factors, root cause, and corrective actions.

  • Ensure corrective actions are appropriate, measurable and that adequate oversight is in place to validate continued compliance.Support assigned organizations in the interpretation of Federal, State, local and SCE safety rules, policies and procedures to provide guidance and ensure compliance and effective application of safe work practices.

The essentials

  • Seven or more years of experience in construction, maintenance, or operations.

  • Two or more years of experience working with, communicating, and assuring safe work practices.

  • Valid Driver’s License.

  • Ability to provide 24 hour, 7 days per week during emergency/storm response within a designated area of responsibility as needed.

The preferred

  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Environmental, Health and Safety or related field.

  • Experience participating in safety investigations, determining root causes, and recommending solutions.

  • Experience performing analyses and making recommendations for improvements in work methods.

  • Knowledge of CAL/OSHA and other governmental regulations relating to the electric utility industry.

  • Experience using Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

You should know

  • This position’s work mode is hybrid. The employee will report to an SCE facility for a set number of days with the option to work remotely on the remaining days. Unless otherwise noted, employees are required to reside in the state of California. Further details of this work mode will be discussed at the interview stage. The work mode can be changed based on business needs.

  • The primary work location for this position is Chino, CA, however, will require travel based on assigned territory.Position will require up to 90% traveling and being out in the field throughout the SCE service territory.

  • This position has been identified as a NERC/CIP impacted position - Prior to being hired, the successful candidate must pass a Personnel Risk Assessment (PRA) or Background Investigation. Once hired, the candidate must complete specified training prior to gaining un-escorted access to assigned work location and performing necessary job duties.

  • Relocation does not apply to this position.
