Project Specialist

Assist Project Managers by ensuring that projects remain withinplanned cost, schedule and technical constraints. Provideprogram management support services within the scope of program/project management. Assist with reporting, dashboards andoperational metrics focusing on continuous improvement andevolution to maximize decision making and execute visibility.

Work scope may include any/all of the following duties:

  • Assist the PM in providing program/project management assistance, systems engineering support, and program/project control (programmatics, schedule and cost) support.

  • Support the PM in providing overall responsibility for all aspects of the multi-year, project/task efforts executed under assigned contracts and serves as the corporate single point of contact for all matters related to these contracts.

  • Provides oversight of all ongoing projects/tasks to ensure that each contractual objective is being met, that resource expenditures remain within budget, that all delivery requirements are fulfilled, and all work remains on schedule.

  • Maintains close liaison with the customers to prioritize key tasking and ensure timely resolution of any programmatic issues.

  • Able to work independently with strong time management and ability to execute on multiple concurrent deliverable.

  • Able to adapt quickly to changing priorities and assignments.

  • Maintains liaison with current and prospective customers, prime contractors, and subcontractors and markets as appropriate to expand business base of the contracts.

  • Ensures that any subcontractors’ performance meets all contractual requirements and Jacobs quality standards.

  • Coordinates staff activities in responding to existing and impending contractual requirements.

  • Reviews status area measurements for the program/project/task and ensures textual narratives provided adequately describe the reason/rationale for the measurement values assigned.

Education and Experience:

  • High School Diploma along with 6 years of related experience; or

  • Bachelors Degree (preferred) and 2 years of related experience.

Knowledge, skills & abilities required:

  • Project analytics familiar with project management

  • Employee has knowledge of and skill in applying intermediate principles.

  • Employee uses judgment in researching, choosing, interpreting, modifying and applying available guidelines for adaptation to specific problems or issues.

  • Practical knowledge of standard procedures and operations, requiring extended training or experience.

  • Excellent verbal, written and presentation skills with an attention to detail.

  • Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate technical and business issues and solutions to multiple organizational levels, capable of summarizing and communicating key financial information and business strategies at any level.

Essential Functions

Physical Requirements

  • Working at a computer or desk (considerations: sitting, eye strain, hand strain)

  • May involve long periods of sitting or standing.

Work Environment

  • Office setting that includes sedentary physical effort. However, may include lifting of weight up to thirty (30) pounds asnecessary. Must be able to work well with co-workers and all levels of management. No hazards on job or unusualenvironmental conditions.

Equipment and Machines

  • Standard office equipment and machines, computer workstation.

  • Working at a computer or desk.


  • Normal hours are Monday – Thursday 7:00am – 5:00pm, non-flex Fridays 7:00am to 4:00pm

  • Punctuality and regular attendance are necessary to meet deadlines.

  • With the exception of STD/LTD/FMLA & approved time off, attendance is considered essential

Other Essential Functions

  • Must pass drug testing.

  • Must be able to read and write effectively in English.

  • Must maintain a positive work atmosphere by behaving and communicating in a manner to get along with customers, clients, co-workers and management.

  • Must be able to work under supervision and respond appropriately and professionally to criticism from a supervisor.

  • Travel Requirements - May be required to travel, but will be infrequent.

  • Current driver’s license, car registration and auto insurance required

  • U.S. Citizen and a U.S. DoD Secret Security Clearance required.
