CASA Volunteer Coordinator

The Ross County Court Appointed Special Advocate Program (CASA) is a court-based organization that recruits and trains community volunteers to become CASA's and advocate for children who are alleged to be abused, neglected or dependent. The volunteer coordinator reports to the Ross County CASA Director and provides support to advocates, reviews reports, attends visits and will carry a caseload. Position ensures court documents and dates are provided to volunteers. Incumbent must comply with training requirements for CASA Volunteers and assist in training, and supervision of volunteers.

Duties:

  • Complete CASA volunteer training
  • Work collaboratively with children services, behavioral health, education and medical providers to ensure the needs of a child are being met and represented in court.
  • Review and assist volunteers in court reports and or addressing concerns involving the case.
  • Maintain a professional level of confidentiality.
  • Maintain computer and case files with court assigned cases.
  • Maintain volunteer records and training expectations through CASA Manager
  • Remain objective, listen to volunteers, caregivers, community professionals about the health and welfare of a child and ensure facts and findings are submitted to the court.
  • Incumbent must be able to work cooperatively with a range of personalities and professionals.
  • Incumbent should have knowledge and understanding of child welfare issues and guidelines.
  • Incumbent must be able to handle sensitive information around children and families in crisis.
  • Other duties as assigned by director and or court administration.

Requirements:

  • Preferred applicant will a bachelor's degree in human services, social services, or related field. Associates will be considered with 5 years' experience in the above related fields.
  • Preferred applicant should have supervisory or human resource experience.
  • Must be able to work in Microsoft Office programs and willingness to learn other database programs pertaining to tracking and managing volunteers and cases.
  • Must have good written and verbal skills.
  • CASA, child welfare, child and youth-oriented experience is preferred.

Salary/Benefits

The salary range is between $43,700-47,500 based upon education and experience with county health benefits and PERS retirement.
