Copeland AME Automation Technician in Chihuahua, Mexico

Job Responsibilities

  • Assist in the assembly and qualification of automated manufacturing equipment/system consisting of:

  • Mechanical and pneumatic assembly of automated equipment/systems

  • Electrical wiring of panels/junction box/controls (plc, servo motors, digital/analog input/outputs, HMI, etc.), robotics, and accessories through a list of cables and schematics.

  • Label cable/hoses and modify the cable list and schematics as needed.

  • Cable management and cable termination with welding and pressing tools.

  • Machining/drilling and simple milling jobs.

  • Verify continuities and power supplies using digital multimeters.

  • Acquisition and ordering of parts.

  • Maintain a list of materials and costs, as well as register them in the project area.

  • Installing equipment on the production floor using layout drawings

  • AC/DC systems, including motion control, precision switches, and low/high voltage applications.

  • Understand and use mechanical, pneumatic, and electrical schematics

  • Assist in the development of electrical/electronic equipment and mechanical hardware.

  • Recommend, test, and evaluate mechanical and electrical components or changes when making process improvements.

  • Assist engineering personnel in testing and evaluating new technologies, equipment, or techniques.

  • Assist in the development of equipment/project documentation.

  • Provide troubleshooting and preventive maintenance.

  • Assist in solving automation production problems.

Basic Qualifications

  • Technical Degree or in Electromechanical/Mechatronic, Electrical or Electronic Engineering (or equivalent experience).

  • Knowledge of basic instrumentation, including digital multimeters, oscilloscopes, analog-to-digital converters, and digital I/O.

  • Ability to perform manual assembly with the use of light machinery/hand tools.

  • 3 years of experience in a similar position/area.

  • Proficient with mechanical, pneumatic, and electrical hand tools

  • Knowledge of mainframe and Windows-based PC applications.

  • Ability to work with multifunctional teams

  • Availability to travel (0-15%).

  • Ability to speak English (50%).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with robotic and automated cells.

  • Ability to troubleshoot and program Fanuc Robotics.

  • Ability to troubleshoot and program Allen Bradley PLC processors.

  • Knowledge of CNC equipment.

  • Practical knowledge of the 2D/3D CAD drawing package or solids modeling program. (Draftsight & NX Prefered)
