Intern - Planning and Development Department Planning & Development Department Description The Chicopee Department of Planning and Development was established \"...to administer governmental and municipal functions and responsibilities in the field of city planning; to coordinate efforts directed toward the future development of the city; to assure its continued improvement, consistent with its physical, social and economic conditions and resources..,\" from Chicopee City Code Chapter 75. About the Job The City of Chicopee\'s / Planning & Development Department plans to hire two (2) Planning Interns to assist the Department with several on-going and upcoming projects throughout the remainder of Fiscal Year 2024 and throughout Fiscal Year 2025 (May 2024 - June 2025) pending approval of the Department\'s Fiscal Year 2025 budget request. All activities & expectations will be aligned with those of an entry - level Planning Intern as determined by the American Planning Association (APA). Both positions will contribute to and gain experience from the following projects and activities during this IN - PERSON internship. Qualifications To be minimally qualified, one must meet the following criteria: Recent graduates and individuals planning to return to an academic program of study during the Fall 2024 or Spring 2025 semesters are encouraged to apply. Planning Staff and any selected individuals(s) will develop an appropriate work schedule to accommodate class schedules as needed. Licenses (If Applicable) N/A Essential Duties Include Research and develop proposals for various grant programs (federal, state & private foundations) the Department plans to pursue. Assist in the management of on-going Department - led grant-funded projects. Assist with the implementation of the City\'s first Comprehensive Plan: \"Envision Our Chicopee: 2040\". Assist with the adoption and implementation of the City\'s updated Open Space and Recreation Plan. Assist with the development of an update to the City\'s Hazard Mitigation Plan. Assist with the development and maintenance of Departmental webpages (across different platforms) and social media accounts (Facebook, Instagram, etc.). Assist in the project management of on-going Brownfields assessment, cleanup, and redevelopment projects through Chicopee\'s Brownfields Program including the Willimansett Brownfields Area-wide Plan. Other duties as assigned per the full job description.
