Jacobs Structural Bridge Engineer in Chicago, Illinois

This structural (bridge) engineer will serve in a lead technical role on bridge design projects and perform complex structural analysis and design for all structural aspects of transportation (highway and rail) projects in local and international projects. This engineer may serve in the role of project manager for transportation projects and serve as a representative of Jacobs at meetings, presentations, and public hearings/reviews relative to assigned projects.

The successful candidate will possess knowledge and experience in:

• Planning, analysis, design, plan preparation, specification development, bridge inspections, and report writing.

• Must have strong background in structural engineering analysis and design and have a proven background of technical leadership on structural transportation projects.

• Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering, preferred coursework to include structural analysis, foundations, and design with structural steel, reinforced concrete and prestressed concrete materials

• Professional Engineer (PE)

• Demonstrated experience on various types of bridges, to include analysis, design and plan development of new and rehabilitation projects required; lead on tasks or projects

• Illinois SE preferred or ability to obtain in near future

• Demonstrated proficient knowledge of Midas strongly desirable; SAP2000, CSiBridge, Larsa, Lusas or other structural design/analyses programs

• Must have a solid understanding of and practical experience applying the AASHTO LRFD Bridge

• Design Specifications to transportation structures

Ideally, you’ll also have:

• Master of Science in Civil Engineering or Masters of Structural Engineering

• Ability to work in the downtown Chicago office at least 1-2 days a week

• Previously demonstrated project experience with Illinois Tollway, Metra, Chicago DOT, Class I Railroad, CTA and/or IDOT

• Design/Build experience or desire to work on D/B
