Department: Cost Accounting/Reimbursement

Work Type: Full Time (Total FTE between 0.9 and 1.0)

Shift: Shift 1

Work Schedule: 8 Hr (9:00:00 AM - 5:00:00 PM)

Summary:

This position will be responsible for Net Revenue functions including on-going financial analysis, participating in the month-end close process, and financial reporting for internal and external users. The main functions will include NPSR close, compilation of monthly net revenue packages, and completion of monthly AR and related reconciliations. Exemplifies the RUSH mission, vision and values and acts in accordance with Rush policies and procedures.

Required Job Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field.

• 3-5 years of accounting and/or financial reporting experience.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

• Strong problem solving and financial analytical skills.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office.

• Advanced Excel skills including V-lookups, pivot tables, and data analysis.

• Strong time-management skills.

• Ability to interact effectively with all levels of staff.

• Demonstrates a desire to continuously improve accounting and financial reporting skills through proactive professional development efforts.

• Ability to work independently and creatively.

Preferred Job Qualifications:

• CPA or master’s degree.

• Healthcare industry experience.

• Experience with reimbursement and revenue cycle.

• Previous experience with Crowe’s Revenue Cycle Analytics (RCA) tool.

Responsibilities:

• Calculates net patient service revenue and records related journal entries in the general ledger.

• Prepares and compiles analysis for monthly net revenue packages for the hospitals and physician groups.

• Assesses and reconciles AR accounts, third party liabilities, designated/undesignated reserves, and compliance reserves.

• Collaborates with Revenue Cycle and the Managed Care Contracting department to understand and assess issues impacting revenue cycle performance.

• Assists in the preparation of the annual net revenue budgets and long-term financial plans.

• Prepares and compiles analysis and work papers required for various Internal and External financial audits of Net Revenue and Reimbursement.

• May be required to assist in Medicare cost reporting, governmental audits, and other Reimbursement related items.

• Collaborates with Digital & Information Services to create various financial reports using Epic Accounts Receivable System data as needed.

• Supports senior leadership through on-going and ad-hoc analysis.

• Other duties as assigned.
