Position Overview: The Social Media Intern provides support to the state office. This position will work closely with Deputy Director, Communications and Stewardship to increase awareness of Best Buddies through local marketing and media initiatives, as well as working on special events and other projects as directed.

Job Qualifications Qualified applicants must have:

  • Strong written communication skills
  • Ability to work independently
  • Basic understanding of social media and familiarity with various social media platforms including Facebook, LinkedIn, and Instagram.
  • Must be comfortable engaging with people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD)
  • Must be adaptable and able to quickly and effectively develop and balance multiple relationships, and get results from a variety of people

Job Duties include, but are not limited to:

Marketing

  • Work with area stakeholders to obtain and create social media content.
  • Work to create a social media calendar that includes event coverage that aligns with the event communications calendar and meets the needs of each platforms demographics
  • Post social media content on the following 3 platforms: Facebook and Instagram and LinkedIn
  • Monitor traffic to the various social media platforms to drive engagement from audience.
  • Schedule content on all holidays and special events through Hootsuite
  • Assist team in getting video content to be used on social media and help with video editing as necessary
  • Create story content and graphics for engaging stories including but not limited to, Best Buddies Trivia, Ask Me Anything, submit Stories, etc.
