UL, LLC Senior Program Manager in Chicago, Illinois

Reporting to the Senior Director, as a Senior Program Manager, you will lead a group of projects and/or programs supporting a major enterprise initiative. You will provide governance, oversight and coaching related to multiple projects supporting large, strategic, and complex programs.

  • Responsible for leading and managing the implementation of large, complex, cross-functional, global, and strategic projects making up a program.

  • Provides overall leadership and support to one or more enterprise-wide programs.

  • Plans the overall program, monitors the progress, and performs daily program management duties throughout the program life cycle.

  • Serves as Point of Contact on all program related activities, issues, and risks. Manages risks and issues and takes corrective measurements. Identify and escalate risks as appropriate.

  • Interfaces with C-Suite Executives and Business Unit Leaders. Effectively communicate and stakeholder key leaders across the program.

  • Defines the program governance (controls). Develops key program metrics. Facilitates portfolio/program level reviews addressing action items, risk, issues, and drive to resolution. Complete status reports.

  • Manages the program’s budget and financial performance. Baseline scope, schedule, budget, and resources. Manage Change Requests as necessary.

  • Plans, manages, and effectively utilizes people resources across the program and projects.

  • Coordinates the project deliverables. Identifies, documents and reports on project/program interdependencies with other key initiatives.

  • Lead, manage and support the Global Project Management (GPM) process. Work directly with GPM advisor team and project managers while overseeing project portfolio.

  • Performs other duties as directed

  • Minimum of (10) ten years of project management experience running large-scale, distributed/complex projects with multiple parallel threads of work.

  • Ability to lead major global programs delivering agreed upon scope on time and on budget.

  • Experience leading complex technical projects with aggressive schedules

  • Ability to build and lead integrated teams from various internal and external organizations across multiple sites

  • Ability to achieve broadly communicated objectives with a minimal amount of supervision

  • Ability to promote innovative ideas and accept the risks that are required to lead change

  • Ability to make decisions independently and to assume higher-level leadership responsibilities in critical situations

  • Strong analytical and financial skills

  • Ability to innovate under new and/or changing conditions

  • An independent problem-solver that can make high quality judgements and decisions quickly with excellent organizational skills

  • Effective consultative and influencing approach

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and proven ability to work effectively with all organizational levels, with Senior Executive Level reporting and escalation experience.

  • Solid foundation on latest technologies to be able to understand service interdependences and drive towards technical solutions for multi-tiered systems a plus

  • Led complex technical projects with aggressive schedules

  • Experience with cross geographical project coordination and management is a plus

  • PMP/Agile certification is a plus but not required with related, applicable experience.
