DoorDash Senior Manager, Social Impact Programs in Chicago, Illinois

About the Team

DoorDash’s Public Policy & Social Impact Team advocates for legislation that supports the health of our business and empowers our community of Dashers, local business partners, and consumers. Through our advocacy on cutting-edge public policy issues and the programs that we develop, we are shaping the future of local economies. This unique team combines direct engagement with policymakers at all levels of government, advocacy campaigns, policy research and analysis, and programs to promote equity, safety, and sustainability.

About the Role

DoorDash is looking for a leader to join its Social Impact and Sustainability function. The person in this role will be responsible for developing and incubating transformational social impact programs that increase access to opportunity and financial well-being for entrepreneurs, gig workers, and other community stakeholders.

You’ll have learnings to build on from our work supporting merchants (https://about.doordash.com/en-us/impact/accelerator-for-restaurants) , Dashers (https://about.doordash.com/en-us/news/announcing-the-san-francisco-pathways-cohort) , and nonprofit partners (https://about.doordash.com/en-us/impact/project-dash) (see links for a few examples), but in this role you will have an opportunity to build new programs yourself and shape our overall portfolio.

You will report to the Head of Social Impact within our Public Policy organization. You’ll be encouraged but not required to work from DoorDash offices, with occasional travel expected.

You’re excited about this opportunity because you will…

  • Lead an incubation process to strengthen existing programs and pilot new ones with the goal of scaling transformational social impact concepts using DoorDash’s technology, relationships, and reach

  • Coach others on the team to implement pilots, and also roll up your sleeves to implement them as an operator yourself

  • Lead decisions about which initiatives the Social Impact & Sustainability function prioritizes and be accountable to making the right investments of our time and resources

  • Cultivate relationships with external community partners and internal stakeholders (Public Policy, Communications, Brand, Strategy & Operations, to name a few) to source, inform, build, and scale big ideas

    We’re excited about you because…

  • You have a thoughtful perspective and ambitious ideas for how DoorDash can build financial resilience for communities.

  • You have at least eight years work experience, including at least four years of leadership experience owning a strategy and scaling operations for a program, product, or line of business.

  • You have experience designing and running structured experiments and iterative tests.

  • You think in terms of measurable outcomes, scalable process, and long-term vision.

  • You can build infrastructure and relationships with a diverse range of nonprofit, government, and internal stakeholders to turn your vision to reality.

  • You are confident working autonomously, but experienced at leading group projects.

  • You distill complex information and big ideas into compelling narratives.

  • You have people management experience.

  • You have analytics/SQL skills.
