Senior Accountant

We are looking for a motivated Senior Accountant to join our Corporate Controllership function! Aon Corporation (NYSE: AON) is the leading global provider of risk management services, insurance and reinsurance brokerage, and human capital consulting. We currently have an exciting career opportunity for a Senior Accountant in our Chicago, IL office, which is located at 200 E. Randolph Street.

What the day will look like

  • Preparation of monthly journal entries

  • Review, perform and analyze balance sheet account reconciliations on a monthly basis

  • Collaborate with the business partners to ensure appropriate accounting treatment in accordance with GAAP

  • Preparation of monthly exhibits

  • Assisting with balance sheet and income statement variance analysis as well as interacting with functional areas

  • Drive efficiencies and continuous improvement in the balance sheet reconciliation process

  • Partnering with Payroll/Benefits team to ensure proper mapping/configuration on all payroll/benefits components to ensure accuracy and completeness of financial statements as well as preparing forecast

  • Testing of Sarbanes-Oxley controls

  • Other ad hoc special projects

    Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting

  • Ability to work with different levels of management

  • Ability to work, take ownership, and succeed in a rapidly changing environment

    Preferred

  • 2+ years of experience in accounting

  • Certified Public Accountant and/or MBA

  • Knowledge of Workday, Hyperion and TM1

    The salary range for this position (intended for U.S. applicants) is $75,000 - $85,000 annually. The actual salary will vary based on applicant’s education, experience, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data.     The salary range reflected is based on a primary work location of Chicago, Illinois The actual salary may vary for applicants in a different geographic location.

    This position is eligible to participate in one of Aon’s annual incentive plans to receive an annual discretionary bonus in addition to base salary. The amount of any bonus varies and is subject to the terms and conditions of the applicable incentive plan.
