About the Department

The Section of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology provides care for patients and families with acute and chronic medical conditions, or other hematologic diseases, requiring the specialty knowledge and skills of Hematology, Oncology and Stem Cell Transplantation.

Job Summary

The Piunti Lab is looking for a Research Professional Specialist with previous experience in general lab organization, tissue, and cell culture standard operations. Under the direct supervision of the PI, the Research Profession Specialist will be responsible for all aspects of research projects assigned and for the daily operation of the Lab, ensuring high standards of the experimental setups. Requires in-depth knowledge and experience in the field of chromatin biology and cancer.

Responsibilities

  • Comprehends and executes state-of-the-art genetic manipulation of cell lines including but not limited to viral infections, CRISPR/Cas9 genetic alterations, Degron targeting, etc.
  • Organizes work and solves complex cell culture problems.
  • Works independently and receives minimal guidance.
  • Facilitates and promotes a research project by providing scientific or intellectual information.
  • Develops laboratory protocols and training on new techniques. Manage, analyze, and make recommendations on complex data sets for research.
  • Creates first drafts for scientific writing and publications, including protocols and grants.
  • Trains and mentors laboratory personnel.
  • Performs other related work as needed.

Minimum Qualifications

Education:

Minimum requirements include a PhD in related field.

  • Ph.D. in biology, biotechnology, or a closely related field.

Experience:

  • At least one first-author publication in an ISI journal and a minimum of two co-author publications where the candidate\'s contribution is consistent with the qualifications previously described.

Preferred Competencies

  • Previous experience in coordinating lab technicians\' activities.
