Description

Burns & McDonnell is looking for an experienced Project Manager for our Food & Beverage group to build a strong regional presence to service local clients, specifically in the chocolate & confectionary industry. This individual will grow a project team, further client relationships and help build a national reputation for execution.

The Project Manager will manage, direct and coordinate all aspects of design work related to multiple design and design-build projects. The Project Manager is responsible for the profit and loss of their individual projects, the successful completion of their projects within the specified dates, establishing and maintaining a professional and satisfactory relationship with the Owner, managing all design disciplines, coordinating with the Burns & McDonnell team.

The Project Manager will also be responsible for assisting in growing Burns & McDonnell's Food & Beverage presence. By assisting in client development, proposal writing, developing business strategies in the region, and assisting in team growth and development in the office.

  • Plan, organize and direct several engineering disciplines, project controls, & construction management; including, engineering deliverables, overall safety, cost, schedule and quality of assigned projects.

  • Ensure that the project review process and other quality control guidelines are followed.

  • Consult and assist clients with project delivery plans.

  • Establish project teams, coordinate activities of multiple disciplines, ensure the efficient, cost-effective utilization of staff.

  • Provide performance feedback to department managers for project team members as appropriate.

  • Demonstrate creativity, foresight and mature judgment in anticipating and solving problems.

  • Establish and maintain relationships with prospective and existing clients.Identify opportunities and manage team efforts for submittals, proposals, presentations, contract negotiation, and related activities.

  • Develop project execution plans for project staffing, budgeting, scheduling and establishing critical project objectives.

Qualifications

Required Skills:

Minimum 7 years of experience in the following areas:

  • Managing construction projects

  • Managing multi-discipline teams (Mechanical Engineers, Electrical Engineers, Structural Engineers, etc.)

  • Interfacing with clients and translating their needs to engineering teams

  • Overseeing capital projects for the food and consumer product industry

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field from an accredited curriculum.

Preferred Skills:

  • Professional Registration preferred.

  • Ability to deal effectively with clients on project-related matters

  • Excellent written & verbal communication skills.

  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills.

  • Flexibility to work and ability to adapt to the rapid changes of a market-driven environment.
