Job Overview

The Controls Engineer will join Keurig Dr Pepper’s Advanced Systems organization. The Controls Engineer will work on cross-functional teams to develop and analyze controls strategies for next generation thermal-fluids systems on Keurig appliances.

The Controls Engineer will be responsible for developing, testing, and analyzing thermo-fluid control strategy and algorithms critical to beverage creation. This position will have significant impact and leverage on current and future products and will be in an excellent position for visibility and growth within the Keurig Dr Pepper technology organization.

As a principal controls engineer, you will be viewed across the organization as a subject matter expert in your field. While this position does not have direct reports, the Controls Engineer may have a responsibility for instructing, directing and checking the work of other engineers.

What you will do:

  • Develop model-based control strategies (thermos-fluids controls, heating algorithms) and partner with software engineering to execute those strategies in our embedded systems

  • Plan and execute test to learn experiments to determine critical factors influencing system performance, including building and set-up of experimental fixtures, collection and analysis of data and reporting of results

  • Support definition of thermos-fluids architectures, component selection and qualification

  • Have a design-to-value mentality and be able to articulate consumer level trade-offs on technology recommendations

  • Execute a controls platform strategy with a focus on re-use while keeping an eye on consumer needs

  • Partner with a cross-functional team including electronics, software, and platform engineering

  • Support and/or drive continuous improvement

  • Follow all Keurig Dr Pepper policies and procedures

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in ME, EE, CS, or the equivalent, Master’s degree preferred

  • Experience in developing thermos fluid systems in a consumer products or home use environment

  • 6+ years of professional experience in a high-volume consumer product industry. Preferred experience in Control Systems Integration. Able to define control architectures and make recommendations and improvements to current architectures. Comfortable in both linear and non-linear systems

  • Understanding of feed-forward, model-based, and PID control theories of mechanical and thermal systems (heaters and heating elements, air and water pumps, valves, etc.).

  • Understanding of high-volume subsystem design including evaluating variation across product lines

  • Experience developing code in C++, Python, etc

  • Experience in Modelica or other system simulation tools a plus

  • Experience working hands-on in a lab setting with other Engineers

  • Six Sigma Green Belt, or Black Belt preffered

  • Ability to present technologies and status of development projects to management and stakeholders.

  • Demonstrated record of making critical decisions that positively impact the course of the organization.

  • Willing to travel up to 20% of time
