Description

Robert Half is seeking an Immigration Paralegal to join an award winning law firm in Chicago, Illinois. This role requires a comprehensive understanding of the immigration process, mastery of multiple case types, and the ability to interact effectively with clients.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead client communications via email and phone under the direction of a Senior Paralegal/Attorney.

  • Provide guidance to clients regarding proprietary systems and case processing.

  • Input services rendered to clients and send to accounting for processing.

  • Demonstrate competence in handling a variety of case types with increasing levels of independence.

  • Evaluate cases, relay concerns, and proactively escalate to the appropriate team members.

  • Prepare forms, letters, documents, and correspondence for attorney review; adapt tools and resources for casework which deviates from templates.

  • Manage the status of all filed applications and petitions and finalize documents after attorney review.

  • Use document and data management systems to prepare, monitor, and record all aspects of client casework as per policy.

  • Prepare internal caseload reports for management.

  • Conduct research to obtain information such as background on a company or industry, current wages, processing procedures, standard processing times, etc.

  • Initiate contact with government agencies to obtain necessary information and alert Senior Paralegal and/or attorney regarding potential process delays/problems.

    Requirements

  • A minimum of 1 year of experience in a Paralegal role or similar legal support function.

  • Proficiency in Adobe Acrobat for document preparation and management.

  • Experience with Case Management Software to oversee and track legal proceedings.

  • Familiarity with LexisNexis for legal research and case law studies.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel for data management and reporting.

  • Experience handling Billing Functions within a legal setting.

  • Ability to manage calendars and coordinate appointments, court dates, and deadlines.

  • Experience in Claim Administration, specifically within the context of legal cases.

  • Knowledge of Employment-Based Immigration laws and procedures.

  • Proficiency in using a Management System to streamline workflow and improve efficiency.
