TEKsystems Network Engineer in Chicago, Illinois

Description:

Location: Chicago, IL

• Onsite 3 days a week

• Monday, Tuesday, Thursday is typically the teams schedule.

Client IT teams across the board collaborate and work very closely together. Individuals who enjoy collaboration, matrix environment and a mix of projects- typically work out best here. This networking team has 3 engineers and they are looking to ad 4th one to help them manage and run their network.

There are a lot of custom processes and unique systems in their technical environment. This team would like this new engineer to help them document and capture technical specifications for future training and references. They want a fresh set of eyes to ask questions and help capture their unique process during the 3 months training/onboarding process. (rough estimate)

Day to day role:

• Configure and install software, servers, routers, Firewalls, and other network devices.

• Monitor network performance and integrity

• Resolve issues tiers of support have escalated by troubleshooting cloud and on prem infrastructure.

• Maintain and support our Network infrastructure (AWS/Azure, VPNs, security groups, Palo Alto FWs, F5 ASM, Aruba wireless.)

• Automate tasks and monitor their effectiveness.

• Suggest improvements to network performance, capacity, and scalability.

• Automation Terraform and/or Ansible experience is desirable.

• Solarwinds monitoring and other features such as NCM and SNOW integrations

• Support other teams and IT areas at the client with their initiatives and projects.

Top Skills:

  1. Palo Alto - Expertise

a. Panorama (Main management tool for firewalls)

b. Using templates and groups in Panorama

c. NOT BASIC CONFIGURATIONS

  1. F5 - WAF - NOT LOAD BALANCER

a. ASM - Firewall for apps hosted outside of the client

b. WAF - Looking for SLQ ingestions, looking at the data and risks that could hit your network

c. Knowledge of Design and possibly Architecture

i. Allows for this person to deploy and implement

  1. Prior experience with technical documentation or building out training//documentation/operational playbooks
