What You Can Expect

This position will be a hands-on role within Medstrat, an orthopedics software division of Zimmer Biomet.

The Medical Imaging Software Engineer will have design authority regarding decisions involving development tools, frameworks, libraries, and platforms used by the software. This person will apply advanced knowledge and expertise to overall software requirements while developing subsystem requirements, architecture, and designs.

How You'll Create Impact

  • Provide expert knowledge and management of software architecture, technical requirements, and design and development. Must be able to apply this knowledge to a sophisticated codebase that will interface with other software systems.

  • Create and maintain a successful architecture and automated test suite to verify services in the architecture.

  • Provide expert-level knowledge of the system’s programming language, software library ecosystem, and their application to distributed systems.

  • Engage in code reviews and deliver feedback that drives improvement of the final changes so.that software designs are correct, efficient, safe, robust, and ready for regulatory review.

  • Apply creativity and ingenuity to design an innovative software system that can be delivered within program constraints.

  • Work with other software engineers, quality assurance, testers, and product management to ensure that software requirements are clearly documented, that software meets the system’s technical requirements through development of automated unit and integration tests, and that software can be integrated smoothly with other products.

  • Oversee the design and implementation of multiple software subsystems from concept phase through design transfer/product launch.

  • Work collaboratively across functional teams to maintain consistency and continuity with shared business strategies and objectives.

What Makes You Stand Out

  • 3-5 years of software architecture and development experience, from concept to production.

  • Demonstrated technical capacity to solve problems and instantiate solutions in working code.

  • Experience building software platform from the ground-up, creating standards, guidelines and development methods.

  • Software systems development for complex automation.

  • Experience implementing complex medical products preferred.

  • Practical programming experience developing software for a commercial product involving significant capital equipment.

  • Demonstrated expert knowledge of database concepts and associated query language.

  • Comfortable interacting directly with executive team – explaining technical concepts to non-technical people.

  • Hands-on experience developing real-time software.

Your Background

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or Engineering.

  • Master’s Degree preferred.

  • Hands on Medical Imaging software development (i.e. PACS) experience in designing, developing and successful deployment of large-scale projects from end-to-end.

  • Python development experience is required

  • Experience with test automation tools (i.e. Selenium, Jenkins, Headless browser, etc)

  • Experience with Open-Source container tools such as Kubernetes.
