The Cigna Group Market Business Finance Officer (BFO) - Medicare Advantage - Hybrid in Chicago, Illinois

Role Summary:

This position is for a Market Business Finance Officer (BFO), supporting the Midwest and MidAmerica markets of our Medicare Advantage business. We are seeking a creative and strategic finance leader capable of learning our business and applying that knowledge to drive growth and profit for their markets. Prior health insurance is not required, but the ideal candidate should be able to work through complex business problems towards a defined objective without step-by-step instructions.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Leads financial trend analytics and reporting for the market in support of market affordability goals and operational insights.

  • Oversees pro forma modeling for contract negotiations – contract arrangements inclusive of health systems, physician groups, independent providers and value-based programs.

  • Directs network analytics for the market – helping ensure that the market has both an affordable and marketable network.

  • Manages existing market value-based arrangements (VBA). Responsibilities include overseeing VBA monthly close support and ensuring that market VBA payments are accurate and processed timely.

  • Prepares standard and ad hoc financial reporting utilizing moderate to complex Excel functions, PowerPivot, SQL and Teradata to guide and support business decisions for market and matrix partners in Medical Services, Contracting, Sales and Network Operations.

  • Responsible for analysis and interpretation of moderate to complex Medicare Part C and D financial information. Utilizes independent judgment and discretion, identifies trends, variances, and key issues and provides recommendations for adjustment.

  • Manages one financial lead analyst. Responsible for mentoring, supervising and training.

Ideal Candidate Will Offer:

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, actuarial, business or related field

  • 5+ years of financial reporting, finance, accounting or equivalent business experience – inclusive of financial analysis, planning/forecasting, and GAAP knowledge

  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills

  • Independent thinker with strong time management and organizational skills

  • Excellent communication skills – both verbal and written

  • Advanced understanding of Excel. Experience with SQL preferred

  • Strong motivator and team player able to lead and delegate responsibilities as needed

  • Medicare Advantage experience and general knowledge of the healthcare industry and insurance products preferred, but not required
