Elementary Program Description
At The Frances Xavier Warde School, our K-2 program provides students with a rigorous curriculum. During these grades, we especially work to build a strong literacy foundation. The teachers also focus on the development of thinking skills, articulation in writing and speaking, appreciation of the arts and an in-depth knowledge of math and science. There are two master level teachers in each K-2 classroom to fulfill these goals while differentiating instruction to meet the needs of all learners.
Primary Function
The kindergarten to second grade teacher is responsible for educating the whole child by providing a quality learning experience to all children in his/her classroom. The teacher must respond to the needs of each individual child by implementing lessons in all subject areas. The classroom teacher fosters and maintains relationships with students and families.
Key Relationships The teacher reports to the principal and is supervised, evaluated and mentored by the principal and/or the assistant principal. Other key relationships include: the Head of School, other teachers and administrators, staff, students and parents.

Qualifications and Requirements
A candidate should hold:
A Bachelors or Masters Degree in Education
A Masters Degree in a curriculum area is preferred
A candidate will need upon hiring: TB test
Comply with Archdiocese of Chicago Protecting God's Children Requirements
A candidate must demonstrate:
The ability to establish collaborative relationships with co-teacher/teaching staff
Wllllngness to teach within a Religion Curriculum- either Catholic or Interfaith in subject matter
Familiarity with ISACS criteria and standards of excellence
Familiarity with NAIS mission, vision and values
