Join our Commodities and Global Markets Legal team in Chicago where you will take on the role as a mid-level Litigation and Regulatory/Compliance attorney for our Derivatives team. In this role, you will be given the unique opportunity to assist with growing our revenue generating derivatives businesses in the US. Your deep and specialized knowledge of derivatives documentation, litigation and compliance will be instrumental in driving new business opportunities forward. This financial services company operates in six areas: commercial hedging, global payments, securities, physical commodities, foreign exchange and clearing and execution services (CES). In this role, the Derivatives Litigation/Compliance Attorney will do the following:

  • advising on the taking of security interests in a wide variety of jurisdictions and drafting/reviewing associated derivatives documentation

  • advising the business and liaising with various internal departments on derivatives regulation such as Dodd Frank

  • remaining up to date with existing and upcoming regulations which affects the business’ derivative transactions

  • instructing, liaising with and managing external counsel in a variety of jurisdictions

  • reviewing associated legal opinions, netting opinions and collateral opinions

  • managing actual and potential litigation and enforcement matters, including internal reviews and investigations related to such matters

  • advising on products and services, including contract negotiation and documentation

  • advising on offering and marketing documents and new business initiatives

  • managing dispute resolution

  • interpreting existing laws, rules and regulations, and advising on changes thereto

  • advising on advocacy in connection with contemplated and proposed laws, rules and regulations, and

  • providing legal advice to the Board of Directors, the business and functions.
