Opportunity International Events Manager in Chicago, Illinois

The Events Manager will be responsible for coordinating 10 individual donor events across the U.S. The role will collaborate with major gift fundraisers to plan and manage events from concept to completion including but not limited to guiding event flows, managing registration, coordinating with vendors, managing day of. The role will also help support and improve the organization’s holistic event strategy through calendar planning and process improvement.  The role will report directly to the Director of Marketing.

RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Oversee all functions required to design 10 regional events per year ranging from 50-150 attendees.

  • Host events in a variety of formats ranging from in-home parties to cocktail receptions and dinners.

  • Manage all event logistics and vendors for venues, A/V, caterers, and support staff.

  • Develop event flows and basic scripting to support the goals of the event through acquisition to fundraising.  

  • Partner with teammates to produce donor communications and collateral such as invitations, email reminders, and signage for each event.

  • Manage registration process and maintain updated donor records in database.  

  • Run event planning meetings and coordinate with internal key stakeholders throughout the planning process.

  • Manage the event budget, track expenses, and process expenses.

  • Produce post-event reporting, evaluations, and learnings.

  • Serve as primary on-site day-of event manager.

  • Develop content templates for reproduction to help scale events.Provide occasional support as needed to Event Partner with coordinating National events

    QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree

  • 5-7 years’ experience in in-person event planning

  • Experience running virtual events a plus.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Suite

  • Experience working with CRM systems and online event platforms

  • A motivated self-starter

  • Organized, meticulous, process-oriented, strategic thinker, ability to juggle multiple projects/deadlines at once.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Comfortable customizing some events for a Christian audience and working in an environment that welcomes expressions of faith  

  • An understanding of and a commitment to advancing the mission and values of Opportunity International

    TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS

    Potential for domestic travel to up to 8 events per year (10%). Open to traveling internationally if the opportunity arises.
