JOB ANNOUNCEMENT

DIRECTOR OF FIELD OPERATIONS

Department of Family and Support Services

Number of Positions: 1

Under direction, this class is managerial in nature responsible for managing programs and operations of community service centers to ensure the delivery of services to clients, and performs related duties as required.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

· Oversees community service center operations to ensure program goals and objectives are met.

· Develops and implements operating policies and procedures for program operations to ensure adherence to city, state and federal guidelines and effectiveness of services to Chicago residents.

· Develops work plans and priorities for program activities to achieve desired outcomes.

· Plans and manages work schedules to ensure adequate coverage of field operations and other program activities.

· Monitors, oversees, and provides technical assistance and direction to staff, contracted agencies and other program partners.

· Convenes, coordinates, and facilitates meetings and other communications with staff, contracted agencies and other partners, as needed to resolve operational issues, share best practices, and improve program performance.

· Reviews program reports, including monthly reports from contracted agencies, identifying trends and ensuring efficient and effective program delivery.

· Review program operating budgets.

· Designs, implements, and monitors procedures utilized in program evaluation.

· Coordinates and implements appropriate on-going training for staff.

· Works with staff to generate needed reports for site operations.

· Conducts field visits and documents center operations to monitor conformance with program standards and quality assurance efforts.

Shift : Monday-Friday

Hours : 9:00am – 5:00pm

THIS POSITION IS IN THE CAREER SERVICE

Qualifications:

Qualifications

Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor’s degree in the Social Sciences, Gerontology, Psychology, Public Health, Public Administration, Business Administration or a directly related field, plus six years of experience in the planning, implementation, and/or administration of community or social service programs of which four years are in a supervisory role related to the responsibilities of the position; or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience

Licensure, Certification, or Other Qualifications

  • A valid State of Illinois driver’s license is required

Selection Criteria

This position requires applicants to complete an interview. The interviewed candidate(s) possessing the qualifications best suited to fulfill the responsibilities of the position, based on the oral part of the interview will be selected.

Preference will be given to candidates possessing the following:

• Previous experience managing/supervisory teams.

• Previous experience managing large scale programs.

• Previous experience with budgeting and financial management

• Previous experience documenting status and outputs of projects and processes

• Previous experience applying quality management and improvement tools and processes

• Proficient in Microsoft Office and Microsoft Excel

• Previous experience analyzing and reporting on detailed program performance data and information.
