Blommer Chocolate Company Customer Service Representative - Hybrid Role in Chicago, Illinois

Blommer has been providing delicious, high quality chocolate and cocoa products to customers since 1939. Built as a family business, we are continuing to grow and are looking for motivated and reliable associates to help in our mission of Bringing Chocolate to Life!

Reports to: Customer Service Manager

Position is Monday to Friday, training hours 8:00am to 4:30pm

Hybrid position - 3 days onsite at The Merchandise Mart.

Job Summary:

The customer service role at Blommer is a key link between our company operations and our customers. With an in-depth understanding of our processes and systems, a customer service representative will be responsible for providing internal and external customers prompt and accurate service by accessing information from multiple sources within the organization. Reps should be building relationships by answering questions, providing guidance, removing obstacles, and resolving issues.

  • Respond timely and professionally to our customers by telephone or e-mail to answer inquiries, manage orders, or adjust existing orders; working in multiple systems simultaneously to obtain information

  • Process customer orders daily according to standard operating procedures, confirming customer purchase order information, such as availability of product, quantity, and ship date

  • Manage customer orders by maintaining accurate records of orders and communicating appropriate information to the internal team

  • Confirm changes are accurately entered into all systems and communications completed in a timely manner to our internal team and external customer as required

  • Act as liaison between our internal and external customers to ensure customer expectations are met (internal departments include sales, quality, production, transportation, and finance)

  • Verify production of product, quality release, shipping availability, and address any other requests

  • Suggest solutions and alternatives when we are not able to meet our customer requests

  • Maintain a balance between company policy and customer benefit in decision making

  • Handle issues in the best interest of both our customer and our company

  • Escalate unresolved customer issues to management for further investigation and resolution

  • Participate in the customer complaint process and follow up to ensure customer satisfaction

  • Continuously evaluate and identify opportunities to positively impact the customer experience

  • Perform other related duties that may be assigned to meet business needs

  • Associates degree in related field required; Bachelor’s degree strongly preferred

  • Fluent in English (written and verbal), being bilingual is a benefit

  • Three years of experience in a customer service office environment required, preferably within manufacturing

  • Independently motivated

  • Proficient with:

  • Microsoft Office Suite - including Excel, knowledgeable in developing and manipulating spreadsheets

  • Collaboration tools such as Microsoft Teams

  • Comfortable with working in multiple systems, simultaneously;

  • Customer order management systems (SalesPad and SAP preferred)

  • Exhibit excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Process oriented with desire to work quickly and efficiently, while maintaining accuracy

  • History of remote or online education, through guided instruction and independent learning

  • Experience working in a faced-paced office environment, collaborating with co-workers and management
