Byline Bank Compliance Advisory Manager (Hybrid) in Chicago, Illinois

Objective of Position :

The Compliance Advisory Manager is responsible for overseeing the advisory function of the Compliance Management System. This role functions as an independent and objective expert that reviews and evaluates compliance issues/concerns within the organization. The position ensures the Board of Directors, management and employees are in compliance with federal, state, and local laws and regulations, and that company policies and procedures are being followed.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Leads a team of compliance advisors that provide compliance guidance and related services to the business to ensure coverage across all consumer protection laws, rules and regulations applicable to Byline Bank. Business units include but are not limited to consumer, commercial and SBA lending, lease financing, personal and business deposits, wealth management, and treasury and cash management.

  • Participates in monthly meetings at the Corporate Headquarters in Chicago.

  • Identifies compliance risks resulting from new or revised laws and regulations, ensures action plans are developed to manage the risks, including effective training, procedures and other controls.

  • Reviews and advises on compliance implications related to new or revised business strategies, initiatives, products and services to ensure risks are effectively mitigated.

  • Performs compliance risk assessments in conjunction with business partners to ensure all compliance risks and controls are appropriately identified.

  • Collects and reports on quarterly metrics related to compliance risks.

  • Develops compliance policies and procedures for compliance with applicable laws, regulations and Bank’s stated policies and procedures.

  • Trains management and employees on relevant laws and regulations.

  • Responds to compliance questions from management and staff.

  • Maintains proficient knowledge of applicable laws, regulations, and interpretations and attends external training when necessary.

  • Assists in implementing compliance responsibilities relating to mergers and acquisitions.

  • Collaborates with other departments to direct compliance issues to appropriate existing channels for investigation and resolution.

  • Identifies potential areas of compliance vulnerability and risk; develops/implements corrective action plans for resolution of problematic issues and provides general guidance on how to avoid or deal with similar situations in the future.

  • All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications :

  • Bachelor's Degree, required.

  • 10+ years of progressively responsible experience in a bank or financial services company, with compliance, lending/credit, audit or risk management experience.

  • 5+ years of supervisory or management experience.

  • JD, CPA, or MBA, preferred.

  • Certified Regulatory Compliance Manager (CRCM), preferred.

  • Active member in Community/Statewide/Federal professional associations, preferred.

  • Proficient oral and written communications including making presentations and preparing reports.

  • Ability to communicate with external regulators and effectively and accurately represent the effectiveness of the compliance program.

  • Ability to apply compliance principles, theories, and practices while considering industry program policies, procedures, regulations, and laws.

  • Knowledge and experience in monitoring and testing compliance processes and procedures.

  • Solid working knowledge of management information systems terminology, concepts, and practices

  • Proficiency in working with Microsoft Windows, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.

  • Ability to analyze complex data, evaluate information and drawing logical conclusions.

  • Ability to work collaboratively with a variety of stakeholders at all levels.

  • Be self-motivated and an effective time and project manager with a strong attention to detail.

  • Have strong change management, organizational and planning capabilities.

  • Ability to identify, understand and define problems, evaluate alternatives, set priorities, manage projects and implement high quality solutions.

  • Demonstrate strong organizational skills with the ability to directly manage and communicate multiple projects and priorities depending on organizational needs and strategies.

  • Possess strong communication skills both verbally and in writing.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORK ENVIRONMENT :

Usual office environment with frequent sitting, walking, and standing, and occasional climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and balancing. Frequent use of eye, hand, and finger coordination enabling the use of office equipment. Oral and auditory capacity enabling interpersonal communication as well as communication through automated devices.

The salary range for this position is $115,000 to $145,000. We want to emphasize that the salary range is flexible and there is an opportunity to review the salary expectations based on a candidate's background, skills and experience. The ultimate salary offered will be based specifically on our assessment of our candidate's overall qualifications.
