Responsibilities

Clinical Therapist – Oak Park Counseling Center (FLEX/PRN)

JOB SUMMARY: This is a full time Clinical Therapist position at the Oak Park Counseling Center location – 101 Madison Street in Oak Park. The Clinical Therapist will: Complete initial intake assessments to new clients entering the program and provide preliminary diagnosis and treatment recommendations. Deliver individual, family, and group therapy sessions to children, adolescents and adults in the clinic setting. Develop initial and updated therapy treatment plans to guide the client's clinical treatment with the practice. Develop and maintain a clinical caseload while working alongside administrative staff for scheduling. Maintain and submit appropriate documentation as well as billing submission under the standards of the outpatient services department. Engage in clinical consultation with other members of the treatment team as indicated. Ensure adherence with census requirements of the clinic. Assure compliance with applicable laws pertaining to psychiatric treatments. To provide a safe, secure, therapeutic and professional environment at all times.

Qualifications

JOB SPECIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to demonstrate competency in the criteria listed in this job description. The specifications listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and ability to meet the minimum requirements for this position.

Education: M.A / M.S. in Clinical, Counseling, or School Psychology or MSW.

Experience: One year clinical experience within an inpatient/outpatient/school-based setting; the one year can be a training experience as well.

Licensure/Certification: LPC/LSW or LCPC/LCSW in Illinois preferred.

Knowledge: Working knowledge of Hospital safety policy and procedures. Excellent communications skills. Must possess knowledge of general psychiatric principles, working concepts and theory, age specific growth and development, limit setting, as well as crisis and behavioral management.

Supervision Received: Clinical Director and/or Executive Director of Outpatient Services

Supervision Exercised: None

Line of Promotion: Assistant Clinical Coordinator, Clinical Director

Working Conditions. Exposure to psychiatric patients who may exhibit violent/aggressive behavior. Potential for exposure to communicable diseases, blood/body fluids and other hazardous waste. General hospital environment.

Physical Requirements: Ability to communicate verbally in clear concise manner. Push, pull and lift up to 40 pounds. Intermittent sitting, standing, walking, bending and stooping.
