Restaurant Depot Buying Clerk in Chicago, Illinois

Position Title: Buying Clerk

Department: Buying

Supervisor: Buyer

FLSA: Non-exempt

Position Summary:

Provides support to Corporate Buyers by assisting them with the process of merchandising, selection and development, sales, analysis and vendor management.

Essential Functions:

  • Receives purchase orders from various buying departments.

  • Confirms pricing with supplier

  • Corrects pricing and/or weights on purchase orders

  • Changes delivery date as instructed

  • Releases purchase orders

  • Faxes purchase orders to suppliers

  • Assists with price out of different suppliers and delivery

  • Will assist with food safety recalls by completing paperwork such as checklist for recalled items and spreadsheets with required information for supplier and/or regulatory agencies.

Other Responsibilities:

  • Performs other work-related duties as required and assigned.

Education, Experience and Skills Required:

  • Bachelor’s Degree, OR

  • High School Diploma or GED with at least 2 years experience OR

  • Any appropriate combination of education and experience.

  • Effective oral and written communication skills.

  • Commitment to company values and strong customer orientation.

  • Computer Literacy

Work Environment:

  • Average office environment, air-conditioned in the summer. Accessibility to computers, phone, fax, copiers etc. on premises.
