Job Description

The Assistant/Senior Assistant/Associate Director will work independently and as a member of a team within the Office of Undergraduate Admission to enroll the most competitive incoming classes with a wide range of backgrounds and talents. The annual cycle of the admission and enrollment process has the Assistant/Senior Assistant/Associate Director performing and working in a variety of functions throughout the year. The Undergraduate Admission staff is responsible for enrolling students to the bachelor’s degree program and the residential associate’s degree program via BC’s 9th college, Messina College.

The Assistant/Senior Assistant/Associate Director of Undergraduate Admission reports to a Senior Associate Director of Undergraduate Admission.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage assigned territory through outreach to high schools, prospective students/families, and alumni. Outreach includes seasonal travel to approximately 65 high schools within assigned recruitment territories to represent the University to prospective students and counselors. Territory management may also require speaking at evening programs, coordinating meetings with alumni, leading admission-based workshops, and attending professional conferences.

  • Review applications for admission. Will annually review and manage approximately 1,600-1,800 first-year applications between mid-October and mid-March; those involved with transfer admission will continue application review through April. Evening and weekend work will be necessary at times.

  • Conduct information sessions both on and off campus. Assist in the general hospitality service of all guests visiting Boston College.

  • Experience with recruitment and enrollment of underrepresented populations is desired.

  • Experience with international recruitment is desired.

  • Technical and project management experience in Slate CRM is desired.

  • Additional job-related duties within the Office of Undergraduate Admission to include phone coverage, open house programs, meeting/committees, mentoring current students, and additional responsibilities as assigned.

Title and salary commensurate with relevant experience based on the following titles and hiring ranges:

Associate Director 5+ years professional admission experience $70,500 - $88,150

Senior Assistant Director 3-5 years professional admission experience $63,800 - $79,750

Assistant Director 1-3 years professional admission experience $57,800 - $72,250

Requirements

At a minimum, a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.

Successful candidate should also possess:

  • Enthusiasm for representing Boston College to prospective students, families, and college/school counselors.

  • Commitment to enrolling and retaining a diverse student population and an ability and desire to engage with students and colleagues from a wide range of backgrounds.

  • Ability to effectively communicate Boston College's distinctive mission as a Catholic, Jesuit university.

  • Excellent time management and communication skills, with particular strengths in public speaking and writing.

  • At least two years of previous admission experience or comparable work experience in higher education or another related profession is preferred.
