Industrial Technology Services Steel Fabricator in Chesterfield, Michigan

Industrial Technology Services of Chesterfield is seeking a Steel Fabricator. Must have at least  5 years+ in the custom metal manufacturing trade and be able to demonstrate welding capabilities. We are seeking a metal fabricator who can construct high quality structural products, (e.g. railings, platforms, robot cages, catwalks, ladders) to customer specifications.

Job Summary:

Responsible for the assembly of structural metal products using a large variety of tools and machines. Other skills include interpretation of blueprints, drawings, and other written and verbal instructions.

Essential Duties/ Responsibilities:

  • Able to follow Industrial Technology Services policies and procedures and lead by example

  • Diligent in ensuring a zero accident philosophy is incorporated into all aspects of construction operations

  • Adhere to all quality and safety codes

  • Fabricate and assemble structural metal products

  • Read and interpret blueprints and sketches

  • Troubleshoot malfunctions and perform repairs as needed

  • Complete preventative maintenance

  • Ensure working environment is clean and safe

  • Operating rigging equipment to move product and materials

  • Be able to operate aerial lifts and scissor lifts

  • The use of fabrication tools such as drills, shears, presses, and precision measuring tools

Job Qualifications:

  • Must have a minimum of 5 years experience in the custom metal manufacturing trade

  • Must be able to read blueprints and engineering fabrication drawings

  • High school diploma/GED required

  • Excellent hand/eye coordination

  • Must be able to read measurements and use basic math skills

  • Ability to meet challenging deadlines in an efficient manner

  • Current valid divers license with a clean driving record

  • Must have the proper welding certifications

Physical Requirements of Position:

  • Required to lift and carry up to 50 lbs., sit, bend, and stoop and use fine motor skills

  • Possess the ability to work skillfully with both hands constantly
