Job Description

· Develops global strategies and operational plans to achieve results and ensure alignment with company goals and objectives.

· Sets goals for work group, manages execution, and measures results.

· Develops, negotiates, and manages transportation contracts, relationships and programs with carriers for transportation throughout the world for modes, including dedicated, expedited, internal fleet, truckload, courier, less than truckload, international, and small package services, etc.

· Selects, manages, evaluates, and develops staff. Challenge employees, including building effective teams, developing organizational capacity, providing staff with coaching, feedback, and developmental opportunities.

· Submits recommendations for development of, and compliance with transportation policies, procedures, and programs.

· Manages inbound freight consolidation and back-haul programs, as well as freight bill payment, including pre and post audit.

· Manages fleet programs, including truck and car leases, maintenance, fuel service, and driver reimbursements.

· Designs and develops scorecards and metrics to ensure business objectives are obtained.

· Manages all regulatory and compliance requirements (e.g. DOT, HAZMAT, OSHA, etc.)

· Streamlines supply chain to maximize service levels, profitability and speed to customer.

· Supports LEAN transportation initiatives to drive expense reduction, freight recovery, process improvement, and delivery performance.

Job Requirements

EXPERIENCE:

10 years required of transportation management in retail, wholesale, or direct fulfillment.

EDUCATION:

Bachelors’ Degree in Distribution, logistics, business, engineering or related field required. Master's degree preferred.

SKILLS/REQUIREMENTS:

Business and management principles, including strategic planning, resource allocation, leadership techniques, production methods, and coordination of people and resources.

Principles and processes for providing customer and personal services including customer needs assessment, service quality standards, and evaluating customer satisfaction.

Receiving, distribution center, and material handling operations, procedures, and challenges.

Special handling and shipping processes.

ISO standards.

Technical competence in logistics and transportation.

Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Strong interpersonal and motivational skills.

Strong computer skills.

Working Environment:

· General Office – Work is generally performed within an office environment, with standard office equipment. Lighting and temperature are adequate and there are no hazardous or unpleasant conditions caused by noise, dust, etc.
