*Scope of Position: *The Youth Coordinator will oversee all activities related to the Out-of-School Youth Program. This person provides case management and general support to the participants. The Coordinator will help individuals obtain work experience opportunities by working closely with local employers. This position will also be responsible for providing innovative and engaging workshops and educational experiences for the participant. The Youth Coordinator will coordinate interviews for participants and potential employers and serve as a liaison between local employers and Youth Program participants. Flexibility is necessary for this position.

Essential Functions:

  • Conduct innovative and engaging workshops
  • Recruit students for youth programs
  • Determine Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) eligibility
  • Submit completed participant applications to funder
  • Provide individualized and holistic support to each participant tailored to their specific needs
  • Work with community partners and employers to secure training, internships, and/or placement opportunities for youth participants
  • Identify potential mentors for the youth population to aid in their success
  • Provide referrals to community partners when appropriate
  • Facilitate CASAS testing
  • Conduct assessments tailored to guiding the participant in their career goals
  • Establish working relationships with local employers; interact with personnel and/or manager responsible for the hiring of new employees
  • Solicit job openings from employers and organize detailed job descriptions for job bank
  • Enter and update participant information into all appropriate databases and files
  • Assist with employment verifications
  • Oversee payroll submissions for youth in the SLIP program
  • Conduct case management duties and maintain compliance with funder and WIOA guidelines
  • Represent youth program at school events and external meetings
  • Complete necessary CWDS data entry requirements
  • Maintain youth files in accordance with state and local regulations
  • All other duties assigned

     

     

Experience and Skills

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in business, education, human resources, or related area is required
  • Must have experience working with at-risk youth population
  • Must be able to work independently with little or no supervision
  • Must have excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • Should have skills and experience in providing career development assistance
  • Should have working knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Should have Trauma Informed Care Training
  • Must have notable experience in a team-oriented environment
  • Valid Driver's License and an automobile are required
