Actalent Medical Assistant in Chesapeake, Virginia
Essential duties and responsibilities: - Obtain vitals for each patient prior to physician encounter - Triage patients either via telephone or in-person - Chaperone patient encounter with physician as requested - Perform EKGs as ordered by the physician - Prepare requisitions for laboratory requests - Order prescriptions and/or coordinate pharmaceutical orders via telephone as ordered by the physician - Provide patient education - Respond to telephone requests from patients and/or caregivers in a timely manner - Retrieve diagnostic results - Obtain Prior Authorizations for pharmaceuticals and supplies as requested - Utilize autoclave for sterilization of instruments - Stock exam room and procedure rooms - All other duties as assigned by Practice Manager including back up coverage for front desk and telephones if needed
