Job Description:

Field Technician II

HOW A FIELD TECHNICIAN II WILL MAKE AN IMPACT

Fabricates, installs, maintains, and repairs electronic, mechanical, and/or other types of components and equipment.

Will work with GDIT VLS Team to ensure operational status of contracted VLS HM&E work is completed to required procedures and specifications.

Will work with GDIT VLS Team to identify and correct any deficiencies found.

Will work with a competitive and highly trusted GDIT VLS Team.

The support the GDIT VLS Team provides ensures the Fleet and Program are maintained to the highest levels.

WHAT YOU LL NEED TO SUCCEED:

Required Experience: 3+ years of related experience.

Required Technical Skills: Ability to Remove, Overhaul, Test, and/or Install VLS Deluge Tank Relief Valves, Marotta Valves, Hy-Check Valves, Root and Isolation System Valves, and Hydrostatic testing and certification of Hoses, Valves, and Tanks in accordance with NAVSEA requirements, Navy MRCs, VLS Authorized Procedures, and Technical Manuals.

Security Clearance Level: Secret

Required Skills and Abilities: Problem Solving, Communication, Microsoft Word, and Excel, and understanding of Test Equipment/Gauge Calibration.

Performs technical task in the operation, testing, adjustment, overhaul, and maintenance of the Mk-41 Vertical Launching System

  • Performs removal, installation, modification, adjustment, and testing of equipment at an advance level in both shipboard and lab environment.

  • Sets up and operates equipment, test apparatus, test equipment and tools for accomplishment of complex mechanical adjustments, alignments, and testing.

  • Evaluates the form, fit, and function of components, apparatuses, and equipment for adherence to technical drawings, procedures, and project objectives.

  • Records test procedures and results, performs routine analysis and calculations, and makes recommendations for changes/adjustments in equipment, product, or test methods.

  • May provide guidance and work leadership to less-experienced technicians.

  • Participates in special projects as required.

Must have or be able to obtain both a security clearance and a DBIDS/CAC.

Knowledge and ability to use related tools, equipment, and systems.

3-5 years of related experience maintaining, and repairing MK-41 VLS

Associate degree in related technical equivalent, or the equivalent combination of education, technical training or work experience. MK-41 VLS NEC 0981 a plus but not required.
